The main model contest in many people's eyes is whether one may be able to get their face on the cover of Vogue or some other such type of publication that glorifies that grand sanctum of modeling and glamour. There are of course many others, a model contest may offer a cash prize, or a contract, or a combination of both.
The many people just beginning on the pathway towards their dream of becoming a fabulous model may already be familiar with the model contest. They are happening all over the country and take on many forms. There is probably nearly one model contest for each different type of model, keeping many struggling models busy throughout the year.
The audience at the average model contest will usually consist of a mixture of family members, agents, audience filler day players getting paid twenty dollars to help fill chairs to create more of an illusion of enthralled enthusiasm, and various industry personnel, alongside general fans of modeling and models, who make it a habit to attend every model contest they can.
