Model auditions - what a harrowing ordeal for those with little experience, and even more horrific for those who had an exceptionally high opinion of themselves right up until the moment they entered the lobby and saw a room full of two hundred other beautiful people all there to compete to see who would be chosen above all others in that day's model auditions.
The ones who survive those first few model auditions without suffering a mild emotional breakdown should be able to make it for the long haul, as the trauma of their first experiences trying to get noticed in a sea of hopefuls often discourages many potential future supermodels from attending any further model auditions.
It is sometimes extactly this kind of strength of character or determination that that people are looking for at models auditions. Many are looking for someone with a look that belies confidence, self-assuredness, or just an undefeatable spirit. Contrary to those who might assume that pure physical beauty or sex appeal are the only things that are sought after in the modeling industry, model auditions are often used to look for people who emote desirable personality characteristics because companies want consumers to associate that quality with their clothes, their label, or whatever product they may be selling.
